The Human Voyage team has made its presence felt by promoting and marketing the Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge 2014 at selected sports events over the past two months.

Most notable in a series of roadshows conducted was the team’s trip to Singapore in March to set up a registration booth in conjunction with a renowned race across the Causeway.

Aside from creating an awareness campaign ahead of the event which is into its fifth edition on Oct 13-18, the team’s promotional line centred on the newly-created Men’s Open category for riders aged between 30 and 39 years, incentives for early birds and of course the jamboree.

As in previous years, LIMBC continues to offer the biggest winning purse for any mountain bike (MTB) event in the planet, with US$150,000 up for grabs.

Human Voyage CEO Datuk Malik Mydin said the idea is to attract more participation from local and regional MTB enthusiasts across five categories – Men’s Elite, Men’s Open, Women’s Elite, Men’s Master and Senior Men’s Master.

For the second year running, Langkawi is set to host a leg of the UCI MTB Marathon World Championship qualifier on Oct 11, two days before LIMBC is flagged off.

The Men’s Open, a category traditionally dominated by top European riders in the past, saw the 2013 edition won by top crowd favourite, Kohei Yamamoto, of Specialized Racing Team.

The Japanese - a regular face on the UCI World Cup field – became the first Asian winner in the history of LIMBC while defending champion Lea Davison also of the Specialized Racing Team, grabbed the Women’s Open title for the second year in a row.
