Saw Wins A Saga | LIMBC Malaysia 2014

LANGKAWI (Sept 28): Saw Chin Keong felt like he was the luckiest cyclist in the world after winning a Proton Saga car in the Langkawi International Mountain Bike Championships (LIMBC) 2013 Jamboree lucky draw today.

The 36-year-old Langkawi native had almost given up hope of winning a prize after another lucky draw number was called out for the grand prize.

But his intuition persuaded him to hang on a little longer at the Jamboree event finish line at the Lagenda Park in Kuah.

Chin Keong’s patience was rewarded when there were no takers for the Proton Saga for three consecutive numbers that were drawn out of the box by the guest of honour Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

When Tun Dr. Mahathir drew out a number for the fourth time for the grand prize, it was Chin Keong’s number.

“My decision to hang on a little longer at the venue has brought me the bumper prize. Never in my dreams did I expect to win a car in the LIMBC Jamboree lucky draw,” said Chin Keong.

Chin Keong, who is a tow truck operator in Langkawi, plans to utilise the Proton Saga as a second car for his family.

This is the second year that he has taken part in the LIMBC Jamboree fun ride event.

“My friends and I cycle around Langkawi island once or twice a week. We enjoyed ourselves during our maiden participation in the LIMBC last year and made it a point to participate again this year.

“We also rode went to Haadyai in Thailand to take part in a similar event in June this year. Winning the car in LIMBC 2013 will make me appreciate cycling activities even more,” said Chin Keong.

In the non-competitive Jamboree event, Muaz Abdul Rahim was the first to cross the finish line ahead of Ahmad Fahmi Farhan and Nik Mohd Fariz. The fun ride is the curtain-raiser to the six-day LIMBC.
